As our family pursues Kingdom living, we are encouraged to read God’s word, in order to know what Jesus has said and done, so we can teach and do for others as Christ has done for us.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
The REACT method is simply a tool that may help you study scripture.
READ THE TEXT Use several different translations to help get the understanding of what the author is trying to communicate. Spend time asking God, through his spirit, to give you wisdom for understanding.

EXPLORE THE TEXT Who is the author? Who is the audience? What is the author’s agenda/big idea? What are commentaries saying about the text?

APPLY THE TEXT Is there a sin to confess? Is there a promise to claim? Is there an attitude to change? Is there a command to obey? Is there an example to follow? Is there a prayer to pray? Is there an error to avoid? Is there a truth to believe? Is there something to praise God for? Who is God? What has he done, specifically through the work and person of Jesus Christ? Who are we in light of what Jesus has done? How should we live in light of who we are as a family, as servants, and as missionaries?

CARE FOR THE TEXT Prepare the “good” ground. Journal, meditate, memorize, so that what you just read takes root in your heart and mind (Matthew 13).

TEACH THE TEXT Disciple others by teaching them, in word and deed, what God is teaching you. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19
